No Truth to Rumor About Arbuckle Acres Park

Over the past few days, social media has been buzzing with questions about the future of Arbuckle Acres Park. Comments made at a recent Town Council meeting fueled the discussion. In an effort to address some of the concerns raised, Brownsburg Parks would like to reiterate how Arbuckle Acres fits into the new construction of the Arbuckle Commons mixed-use project.

We believe this is a very exciting time for Brownsburg, and for our parks. The Arbuckle Commons construction is a component of the Town’s comprehensive plan for the development of downtown. To make this vision a reality, less than 2.5 acres of Arbuckle Acres Park were sold to the project’s developers, including the area where the Carmony Fountain is located. Under the agreement, the developer that purchased the land is paying to have the fountain rebuilt at a prominent site at Arbuckle Commons, which will be the new entrance to Arbuckle Acres Park. In addition, the comprehensive plan calls for a multigenerational community center to be built at Arbuckle Acres. The town’s comprehensive plan doesn’t call for any additional park land to be sold, and the remaining park land, approximately 66 acres, will remain open for the public to enjoy.

The Park Board welcomes residents to attend its meetings on the third Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Town Hall Council Room to see and hear the business of Brownsburg Parks or to share their suggestions and concerns about the park system.
