Dog Waste Stations

As the population of Brownsburg and the surrounding areas increase, so does the number of pets. The pet of concern to the Stormwater Program is the dog. Un-scooped dog poop can be harmful to the environment and a health concern. Contaminated runoff flowing directly into ponds, lakes, or waterways through the storm system can cause excessive algae growth resulting in low oxygen in the water and killing fish. Bacteria and parasites in dog waste can make people sick if they come into direct contact with it in green spaces, contaminated runoff, or the contaminated waterway downstream of the dog waste. Prevention is simple - clean up after your pet. While visiting Arbuckle Acres and Williams Park please take advantage of the waste stations that are supplied by the Town with plastic bags or mitts to clean up after your dog. The waste can be disposed of at these locations too.
