The two oldest oxidation ditches were installed in 1987 with a useful life expectancy of 20 years. With the recent plant upgrades, an opportunity to replace the worn-out oxidation ditch equipment without jeopardizing water treatment became available.
The rotors (aeration brushes), gearboxes, weirs, and baffles were removed in March 2022. New equipment is anticipated to arrive in late June with installation in late summer 2022. Due to delays in equipment manufacturing, the new equipment is anticipated to be delivered in August of 2022 with installation to be completed early September.
