What We Do

The Street Department is responsible for maintaining 250 miles of streets and roads, signs, storm sewers, and right-of-ways. Employees perform street sweeping, snow removal, limb and leaf collection, street paving and repairs, and mosquito control. Staff also oversees engineering for new streets and road construction projects.

Limb Pickup

Curbside collection for tree limbs and branches starts Monday, April 27, 2020. Residents may stack small branches and limbs in their yard behind the curb edge to take advantage of this free Town service. LEARN MORE >

Leaf Pickup

Leaf collection in the Town of Brownsburg begins Monday, October 12, 2020. Leaves should be placed in a recyclable brown bag with the top taped shut -- not stapled. Leaves in plastic bags will not be picked up, even if you place the plastic bag in a recyclable bag. LEARN MORE >

Mosquito Control

The season starts on the first of April and ends around October (or longer, depending on the weather). The goal is to treat all Town catch basins (drains) holding water for an extended period of time. LEARN MORE >

Snow Removal

The Street Department snow removal policy states that trucks begin plowing after 2 inches of snow has accumulated.  Not all streets are plowed at the same time, as streets are divided into four basic categories: primary arterials, collectors, local, and courts. The primary arterials are Green Street, maintained by the Town of Brownsburg, and US 136, which is plowed and/or salted by the State Highway Department. Please do not push snow from your driveway into the street and move cars off the street, if possible. LEARN MORE >

Streetlight Issues

The Town of Brownsburg maintains the streetlights on Northfield Drive, the new development on Green Street, and the Ronald Reagan Parkway. All other streetlight repairs are the responsibility of the utility agency that owns the structures.

To resolve streetlights issues quickly, you should report outages, damage or other problems directly to Hendricks Power at 317-745-5473 or Duke Energy at 1-800-521-2232. You can also go to https://www.duke-energy.com/customer-service/request-light-repair to submit a report.
