Over the past few months, the Town of Brownsburg Water Department has been taking measures to address the nuisance of discolored water many customers experience. Filter media was replaced and several repairs were made at the north water plant, resulting in a significant decrease in the amount of iron leaving the plant. Due to the work, iron levels leaving the plant have dropped from .67 to .01-.02 parts per million. While the Town's water quality consistently meets the Indiana Department of Environmental Management's standards, the lower iron will certainly improve water appearance. Some customers are already noticing improvements, and over the next several weeks customers who live farther from the water plant should start seeing clearer tap water. Later this year, the Town will flush hydrants and take further measures to help improve the issue.
