Town's Statement on Kroger

On behalf of the Brownsburg Town Council, president Sean Benham offered the following statement regarding Kroger's decision not to open another grocery store in the former Marsh building at 843 E. Main Street.

Benham said, "At the rapid rate that Brownsburg's population is growing, it is obvious that additional grocery shopping options are needed. The Town was in support of a new supermarket at that location to provide residents convenient access to fresh food. We're disappointed that the chain has opted instead to focus on improving its existing store and that the future of the former Marsh site is uncertain at this point. We understand it's their business decision, but Town officials and staff wish to continue working with Kroger to find a solution."

The Town's economic development department continues to actively pursue retail developments to more adequately serve the area's shopping needs as well as diversify employment opportunities and the property tax base.
